Food Waste, it's your problem.
Ever wonder why we as humans waste so much food? Is it because we don't care? Is it because some of us have never had to go without it? What can we do about such a huge problem? There is no one right answer. But there are many small answers that aren't wrong and will help you to feel better about the amount of food you are wasting. I get it, for some of you it is probably never a thought that enters your mind. Which is okay, there are many things that we have to worry about in life in order to lead a healthy and productive lifestyle i.e. kids, bills, family etc.
Here are a few small things we can all do in order to reduce our food waste. 1. When eating out order a meal that you know you can finish, or at least something you know you will take home and finish later. 2. Prepare meals that don't recquire you to use a lot of ingredients. (Many times we might open a package and only use a bit of that ingredient) 3. "Clean your plate" as my parents you to say. We live in a society where we are told that bigger is always better, sometimes it is, but when it comes to your plate small portions are where it's at. You can always get more. 4. Plan ahead. If you are hosting an event and know there is a good chance that there might be leftovers, call your local food bank/pantry and let them know that you would like to help them out. Globally, forty percent of all food gets wasted. I think we can change that number if we all make a conscience effort to do so.
